Ephesians 4:12-13
Perfecting

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Alone; weak and powerless to be what is right and proper or what God intended;
What is needed is seriously missing, not able to rise to the occasion or need.
Solitary power is weak, unable to sense the emptiness, the vacancies that surround me.
Frustration when on every hand, there are needs unmet, expectations waiting;
Waiting to be filled from some deep fountain mysterious or some great power yet unseen.
What is this we are looking around for to fill the void so deep and unmanageable?

Is God not interested? Are there not some resources in His heavenly arsenal to meet such needs?
Where are the armies great and powerful to charge through the ranks arrayed against us?
Is this not a place where instant help is called for and wanted immediately, here and now?
Please come and deliver us that this tower of hope and place of refuge does not fail.
Do not linger to come to our aid and provide something fitting or someone great and strong.
Now, please; hear our SOS; our signal of distress; our flag of white is near at hand.

And then I read and look where I should have been looking all along and right at hand.
The need is filled; I just have been seeing the sights and sounds that fears beget.
There are in place, right from the beginning; all that is needed, given by the Captain.
They are learned from Him, the Source, the Alpha, the Beginning – the Son of God.
The foundation is laid, unshaken, unmovable by man or principalities or powers.
It is just the way it is supposed to be and as each layer is added completion looms.

It started small, in fearful hearts made strong by power divine, imparted to the common man.
It grew as each role was filled in the way that God intended: the messengers who saw.
Then following hard on them came those who with vision of things undone to do;
And after them came, then and now, those who see men through eyes anointed, the basic need.
Care is given; lessons are learned by those who follow in the path so orderly and right,
That all must know and see there is an order here – a plan laid out to follow.

And so I turn and see in place already: supplied, and intended to complete the need;
Arranged and ordered, picked by One who knows the need full well
Walking gifts, working quietly at times and often overlooked and unappreciated;
But each one moving through their “times” in hands all-powerful; guided –
The need impressed upon the fleshy hearts that care; and feel and sometimes cry.
And I can sense “perfection” comes not alone, but with each one that fits and fills.

“It is such a blessing to be reminded, Father: that long before the need arose here in this place, the Lord Himself knew and appointed the appropriate people who can meet the need. They live and love and work here – caring all the way. Thanks in Him, Amen.”
